This is a suggestion, not a bug. agent-desktop reports what the page exposes, and it does that correctly. But a web page can expose something different from what you see, so I tried a small check for that.
What I tried
I made a fake bank "Confirm transfer" page and pointed agent-desktop 1.0.2 at it in Chrome on Linux. On screen it says AED 500. The a11y tree says AED 50,000. The green send button is labelled "Cancel transfer" in the tree. I also made an honest copy of the page as a control.
Then a real agent (an LLM, not a script) drove agent-desktop by hand:
The idea
An opt-in check that runs before a click that changes something. It OCRs a screenshot and diffs the text against the tree. If they disagree, it tells the agent so it can stop and look.
My prototype flagged 15 mismatches on the trap page and 0 on the honest page. It took about 0.25 to 0.65 seconds on a CPU.
Caveats
Code and results are here: https://github.com/humayuntanwar/agent-sees-different. The agent run write-up is at https://github.com/humayuntanwar/agent-sees-different/blob/main/results/agent-run/summary.md
Would you be open to a PR? It could start as a docs note or an optional helper, whichever fits better.
